MEAL DEAL 2

THE BRIDGE INN This weeks review for the Meal Deal section took us to the Bridge Inn on Longmoor Lane on the border of Long Eaton and Sandiacre. The Bridge is a friendly pub with a relaxed atmosphere and offers more than your typical pub. For a start Fosters at £2.29 and John Smiths at £2.19 is not just a Mon-Thurs promotion but all day everyday. Food is served Mon - Sat 12noon until 4pm and 5pm until 8pm. Sunday 12noon until 6pm. If you’re a cheap skate like me and go for the 2 for £9 there are 9 main meals to choose from. 8oz rump steak and 10oz gammon weigh in at £6.55 and if you are really hungry they do a mighty mixed grill for £9.10. They also do 16oz, 24oz and 32oz rump steaks. The mind boggles. Wine starts at £8.50 per bottle or from the pump at £2.60. The Senior Citizens Menu is available Mon - Sat 12noon until 4pm and has a choice of 6 main meals at £3.50 or a Chicken New Yorker at £4. If you want to take the kids the Children’s menu has a choice of 5 meals at £2.50. When I take the missus out we like to do things between us so she chooses where we go and I pay. For starter we had a Combo for two at £4.75 which consisted of Chicken bites, Onion rings, Mushrooms, Garlic bread and Curley fries. Oh yes and two lots of stuff you dip things in. I must admit when we had finished I was full. But for the sake of the review we soldiered on. For the main Gill had Scampi and I had my favourite, Steak and Ale Pie.

My husband and i visited the Bridge Inn last month. we had a meal consiting of a vegetarian lasagne, which was inedible due to being overcooked and impossible to even cut, and a rather bland filled yorkshire pudding. The whole unpleasant experience was made even worse by the attitude of the barmaid who mumbled a sorry under har breath whilst walking away when i had complained.
