The Thursday Kobra Open at Dynamite Makins could not be fished on Lagoon (frozen over) and was switched to Lizard with was partly ice free. The roach and skimmers failed to feed in the cold water and excepting odd carp and only two bream nothing else was caught.

Winner Boz Phillips (Marukyu) from Cornwall fished bomb throughout on peg 12, and baiting with dead red maggots landed 7 carp for 38 lb 8 oz, losing a big fish that broke his line.

Runner up Ian Morris (Rugby) on peg 4 fished pole at 11m with pellet bait to land 4 carp (best about 12 lb) for 26 lb 14 oz, and he lost another 4 big fish.

Third fell to All Seasons Angling’s Mick Russell on peg 27 with 5 carp and a bream for 22 lb 12 oz taken on bomb and corn.
