DONOR APPEAL A former Mr Universe from Long Eaton has had his life transformed by a kidney transplant. Shaun Davis, 42, had been on dialysis since being diagnosed with kidney failure in 2003. A matching kidney was located shortly after Christmas and Shaun had surgery at the City Hospital on January 4th. Within a day he was up and walking and returned home six days later. Shaun said, “I never expected something as serious as kidney failure to happen to me because keeping fit had always been a 24 hour obsession. The news turned my world upside down, ended my 18 year career and changed my globe-trotting lifestyle. I feel this new kidney is a second chance, which will enable me to take back control of my life.” Now Shaun is urging people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register. To sign up call 0845 6060400.
