CIGARETTES STOLEN IN TWO RAIDS

Cigarettes were stolen when two men raided the Co-operative store, in Draycott Road, Sawley. Two members of staff and a customer were in the shop at the time but no one was hurt. The robbery took place at 6.30pm on Friday December 20th. The raiders, who were wearing matching light blue hooded onesies, ran into the shop kicked open a door to get behind the counter and filled bags with cigarettes from the display case. They tried to force open the till but were unsuccessful before running out of the shop.
similar incident occurred six days later in Ilkeston. At around 7.15pm on Thursday, December 26th two men entered the Co-op on Summerfields Way South and jumped over the cash desk, pushing the female member of staff out of the way. They then loaded cigarettes into a builder’s bag and left the shop.
Both men had scarves covering their faces. One of the men was wearing a black hooded jacket and black tracksuit bottoms. The second man was wearing a grey Adidas hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.
A suspicious dark coloured saloon car was seen in the store’s car park shortly before the robbery took place. Anyone with any information about either robberies is asked to contact Erewash CID on 101.
