On Monday 6th January the ladies of Long Eaton InnerWheel joined together at the Holiday Inn. President Mrs Margaret McMorran welcomed all the members of the club and wished them a very happy New Year.
After the club business was finished we had a most enjoyable show of pictures taken by Mr Ken Austin and narrative of his great achievement of converting a dilapidated barn in Spain to a wonderful house and home. Members were enthralled with all the hard work to the barn and the surrounding one and a quarter acres of land.
Thank you Ken for sharing your super achievement and giving us so much pleasure. A special thank you to Mr Gary Dundas for his help. Thanks also to Mrs Polly Bass for representing the club.

The Society's first meeting of the New Year will be the Annual General Meeting to be held on Monday 27th January at the normal venue: Sawley All Saints Church Hall, Tamworth Road, Old Sawley. After the normal business of the Annual Meeting has been completed, including the election of officers, Rod Young, the Treasurer, will give an illustrated talk on the history of Darley Abbey. Those who joined Rod's guided walk around this village last summer, will know how knowledgeable he is on this topic, but will no doubt want to join others who didn't have that opportunity, to attend this follow-up talk to extend their knowledge of this interesting local area. For further information, please contact the Secretary, on 01332 872 148.

Monday the 13th of January was the clubs annual fund raising auction. Genial host for the evening was the Programme Secretary Roy Maddison. Roy teased and tormented his audience trying to coach as much money
from the members as possible. The event raised just over Eighty pounds for the club funds.
The night also got off to a good start when when Club Secretary Peter Cheetham announced that the Co-operative Society had renewed its sponsorship of the Club. The Co-op has been the main sponsor of the club for a good number of years.
