FRIENDS OF SAWLEY PARK

Locked Up on SawleyPark!

On Saturday 10th May, children on Sawley Park spent time locked in a police van! This wasn’t as a punishment, but for a good cause. The Long Eaton Police brought their van along to the Friends of Sawley Park Fun Day, to help local children to find out more about their work within the community. The Police were just one of the groups supporting the event. Erewash Borough Council, Sawley Before and After School Club, the Brownies and the local schools all helped out. The Fun Day, which was attended by over 600 people, included a Vibez Dance display, a Zumba session, a Karate demonstration and Irish Dancing. Long Eaton Running Club held races on a track painted especially for the event.

We are really impressed with how the community have got behind this Fun Day,” said Caroline Povey, co-founder of Friends of Sawley Park, “A huge thank you to all the local businesses who provided donations and prizes, and the Sawley Community Association for the loan of the hall.”

The event raised over £1,000 towards the refurbishment of the play area on the Sawley Park. To find out more visit  facebook.com/friendsofsawleypark, or to make a donation visit localgiving.com/friendsofsawleypark
