CLUB CALL

LONG EATON LADIES PROBUS CLUB

The Long Eaton Ladies Probus Club met at Risley Park Inn on Thursday 3rd July 2014. 43 members and one guest attended. After the business of the club was concluded we sat down to a very enjoyable lunch, the Probus prayer was read by June Oliver prior to the lunch and the raffle was drawn and won by Jean Bianchi. We were entertained by Barbara Daykin who was the speaker for this meeting. The title of her talk was " Oh Mum what have you Done?" It was based on her childhood which was not a happy one. Her early life was hard but this did not daunt her zest for life. Her life has been full of love and happiness and she put others before herself and always gave a helping hand when needed.
For her dedication and hard work she was invited to Buckingham Palace to receive the M.B.E from His Royal Highness Prince Charles. This was a proud moment in her life, a honour that was truly deserved.
The vote of thanks was given by Barbara Kenerdine. The meeting was closed by the President at 2.15 pm don't forget ladies there's no meeting in August. Our next meeting will take place on Thursday 4th September 2014 see you all there Ladies
