TEN DAYS LEFT TO HAVE YOUR SAY ON SOUTHLANDS

Derbyshire County Council are urging people who want to give their views on proposals to close Southlands Care Home to come forward now. They have until August 24th when the consultation period ends. A decision is expected to be made in October.

The Council announced their plans to close Southlands Care Home, on Main Street, Long Eaton, at the beginning of June as part of their shake-up of care accommodation. If Southlands closes residents would have to move to alternative care in the summer of 2015. In June Councillor Clare Neill said: “If, following the consultation, a decision is made to close Southlands, we will work closely with residents to find the right accommodation. One of the options would be a move to the new Lacemaker Court development.”
The new £10 million development Lacemaker Court which is currently under construction is on the site of the old Grammer school on Tamworth Road. To take part in the consultation people can go to the county council’s website at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/southlands
