LONG EATON MAN ACCUSED OF RAPE
A Long Eaton man appeared in court accused of raping a woman on July 6th. Jason Sedgewick, 30, formerly of Northcote Street pleaded not guilty when he appeared at Derby Crown Court on Monday morning. He also pleaded not guilty to the sexual assaults of two other women. One between October 31st and December 1st last year and the other between March 31st and May 1st this year. Sedgewick was remanded in custody. The trial is scheduled for on March 16th next year.


FRUIT MACHINE ROBBED
Burglars broke into the Bell on Tamworth Road and stole money from the fruit machine. The landlady Michelle Rigg was asleep upstairs and by the time she got down the raiders had gone. The robbery took place at 4.30am on Monday November 3rd. Entry was gained by breaking a side window. Nothing else was taken.

 
CANNABIS GROWER JAILED A 26year-old man has been jailed for eight months after police found cannabis plants in his house during a drugs warrant. Officers executed the warrant at an address in Gibb Street, Long Eaton, in the early hours of February 27th, 2014. They found a number of cannabis plants growing inside the address, along with various items of growing equipment. Liam Brinley was arrested at the scene and later charged with producing the class B controlled drug and possessing class A drugs. The 26-year-old, of Gibb Street, Long Eaton, was sentenced to eight months in prison at Derby Crown Court on Friday, October 10th.

LONG EATON BURGLARY APPEAL
Police appeal after a burglary at a house in Long Eaton. On Tuesday, October 28th between 1.45pm and 4.15pm a house on Longmoor Road was broken into. A number of garden centre vouchers were stolen along with a Samsung Galaxy tablet and a Samsung laptop.
