Taking the lead with FREE microchipping

Erewash Borough Council is holding five days of FREE dog microchipping at sites across the borough in December. The council’s Neighbourhood Dog Wardens will host the ‘chipping days’ from 1st-5th December and have urged dog owners to take advantage of the free offer. Microchips hold all sorts of vital information, including details of the owner – meaning that if a dog is picked up as a stray, vets, dog wardens and others can easily scan the ‘chip’ and reunite the pet with its owner.
The free microchipping events will be between 10am-3.45pm and owners can turn up with their pets at any time. The locations are:
Monday 1 December - Sure Start, Beauvale Drive, Cotmanhay
Tuesday 2 December - Grasmere Road, Petersham Estate, Long Eaton
Wednesday 3 December - Queen Elizabeth Way Shopping Precinct, Kirk Hallam
Thursday 4 December - Sawley Park, Draycott Road, Sawley
Friday 5 December - Sure Start, Beauvale Drive, Cotmanhay
Councillor Barbara Harrison, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Environment, says:
“We are delighted to be able to offer a week of free microchipping – an early Christmas present for owners and their dogs! We hope as many owners as possible take advantage of this great offer. One of the key responsibilities of our Neighbourhood Dog Wardens is dealing with stray dogs and they always work hard to reunite the owners and lost pets – a task made much easier with a microchip.”
