Households across Erewash will find two helpful ‘bin stickers’ dropping through their letterboxes over the coming weeks as part of an Erewash Borough Council drive to further boost recycling rates. The stickers provide information on what recyclable items residents can put in their blue bins/green bags and what garden waste can be put in brown bins for collection. Councillor Barbara Harrison, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Environment, says:
“These information stickers are aimed at being a clear and useful guide to just what can be recycled and what can be put in brown bins. Please stick them on your bins or somewhere you can easily check out the information. We are very grateful to residents for their continued support and enthusiasm for recycling – which means less rubbish is being taken to landfill.”
The information on the brown bin sticker relates to the period between March and December when the council collects garden waste. During the winter, residents can use brown bins for recyclable waste – but once garden waste collections restart, residents must not mix recycling and garden rubbish.
