Long Eaton’s local Derby against Basford Town ended in disappointment after 2 goals in eleven minutes saw the visitors take the points. The game which was scheduled for New Years Day was called off after heavy snow and was played on Wednesday 18th March.
Long Eaton gave a strong performance but couldn't convert their chances. In a disciplined performance it was Basford’s fire power that proved the difference between two good teams. A quality goal from Stuart Hendrie on the stroke of half time proved the knock out blow. Latching onto a long through ball an early strike from the angle caught out Blues keeper Scott Low on 45 minutes to give the visitors the lead.
Hendrie was also involved in the second goal on 56 minutes as he linked with Ruben Wiggins-Thomas to square for Robson Doolan to net to make it 2-0.
