A collection of commemorative coins are among the items stolen from a house in Long Eaton. The crime took place sometime between 5.30pm on Friday, June 5th and 11am on Sunday, June 7th. The burglar gained entry by forcing open the back door of the house in Hathersage Avenue.
A large number of coins were taken, including a commemorative £1 from 1983, a silver crown from 1951 depicting King George VI, a coin dated 1969 depicting the Prince of Wales and a set of Great Britain and Northern Ireland commemorative coins from 1986. A medal from 1929 inscribed ‘Our Empire Prince for God, King and Empire’ was also stolen along with jewellery and a white gold man’s Philip Persio watch.
