Cadet Warrant Officer Rebecca Parr and Cadet Warrant Officer Damien Simpson attended the Nottingham Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremony which signifies the beginning of Armed Forces Week. An annual event that shows our gratitude to our Armed Forces both past and present.
In the event Cadet Warrant Officer Parr was the Cadet Parade Marshall and Cadet Warrant Officer Simpson was the flag bearer, escorted by a Sea Cadet and an Army Cadet. The Parade was relatively short, and led by Flight Lieutenant Hudson, with the main event being presenting the Armed Forces Day flag to the assembled dignitaries.
After the parade the Cadet Forces, along with members of the Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham City Council, members of the Armed Forces and Royal British Legion had tea and biscuits. During this time Cadet Warrant Officer Parr was asked to do an interview for Notts TV, along with a Cadet from each of the other Forces.
Cadet Warrant Officer Parr said “It was an honour to be the Cadet Parade Marshall for an event I have enjoyed being a part of for many years, and to show our support for our Armed Forces.”
Thank you to all Air Cadets who took part in the parade from across Nottinghamshire. Air Cadets represented 209 (West Bridgford), 1359 (Beeston), 1936 (Newton), 2195 (Long Eaton), 2418 (Sherwood) and 2425 (Nottingham Airport) Squadrons.
