LONG EATON MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER




Police have charged three people with murder following the fatal flat fire in Langley Mill. Peter Eyre (43) and Anthony Eyre (21), of Central Avenue, Sandiacre and Simon Eyre (24), of New Tythe Street, Long Eaton have each been charged with three counts of murder. The father and two sons appeared before magistrates in Chesterfield on Friday, June 26th. A 17-year-old, Long Eaton man also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail.



The arrests were made in connection with the flat fire at Langley Mill in which three people died. Police were called to flats in North Street, Langley Mill at 4.04am on Sunday, June 21st, following reports of a fire. Amy Smith (17) and her six and a half month-old daughter Ruby-Grace Gaunt, who lived in the flat, died along with friend Edward Green (17), who is from Belper. Two men, aged 18 and 17, who were also inside the premises at the time, were rescued from the three storey property by neighbours and treated for smoke inhalation.
