LONG EATON MOTORISTS

Residents in Long Eaton are being encouraged to get their vehicle security into gear at an upcoming police event. Officers from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood Team are set to host a series of security events following reports of number plates being stolen from unattended vehicles in the area. Police will be teaming up as part of the Erewash Community Safety Partnership to encourage motorists to bring their vehicles to the events to have tamper-proof number plate screws fitted for free.
The screws, which will be fitted to both the front and rear registration plates, are designed to deter thieves and cannot be removed with a normal screwdriver. The fitting will only take a few moments and there is no booking is needed. The team will be visiting Asda on Midland Street in Long Eaton on Thursday, August 6th. They will be in the car park, close to the car wash, between 2pm and 5pm.
An event will also take place at the Co-operative Store carpark on Victoria Avenue, Borrowash between 2pm and 5pm on Thursday, August 13th. For more information about the event, contact PC Sarah Carlile on 101, or email at: sarah.carlile.14149@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk
