Local Councillor Donates £600 to Trent Valley Troopers
Councillor Roland Hosker, representative for Long Eaton & Sawley has very kindly donated £600 to the Trent Valley Troopers to help with their continuous improvements
Councillor Hosker, with his daughter Leah who is also following in her father’s footsteps as Labour Councillor for Erewash, became interested in the progression of the band after finding their details through a post on Twitter. They are both passionate about encouraging better facilities for young people throughout the Long Eaton and Sawley Communities and were invited to the band’s practice session on Wednesday to find out more
Being actively interested in particular in Long Eaton and Sawley issues – Councillor Hosker said that it was a great pleasure for him to be able to help and that its always good to hear of new ventures within the local community and he will look forward to seeing us next year in Long Eaton Carnival
Leah said that the music was fantastic and it gave her ‘goosebumps’
The Band are seen here receiving the cheque from Councillor Hosker and Leah during their practice session at the Martial Arts Centre, Fields Farm, Long Eaton.
Chairman, Chris Baldock said later ‘ we have worked really hard as a group to raise money for our band through raffles, car boot sales, tombola stalls etc but this donation has given us a real boost -not only to our bank balance but also our confidence as a band as well. It was an absolute pleasure to greet Roland and Leah and we are so pleased with the positive feedback they gave us! We are now in a position to start purchasing our uniforms in preparation for events in 2016. It’s fantastic how everything is now coming together’
Practices are held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6-7pm at the Martial Arts Centre Fields farm Long Eaton. All ages are welcome Anyone interested in joining information or finding out more about the band can call Chris on 07933617167
