WALKING WITH THE WOUNDED

Support our Pride of Britain winners - Sat Oct 17th

Please can you help our wonderful Pride of Britain Winners - Walking With The Wounded. They will be setting off from Draycott this Saturday at 9.00am as part of their 1000 mile Walk of Britain, which finishes at Buckingham Palace on November 1st. Their route this Saturday passes through Draycott, Breaston, Long Eaton, Toton, Chilwell, Attenborough, Beeston, Clifton, Nottingham City Centre, West Bridgford and finally finishes at Morrisons, Gamston.

One of the six veterans doing the 1000 mile walk is from Draycott, his name is Stewart Hill. He suffered a traumatic brain injury whilst serving in Afghanistan. Members of Draycott village fund and various volunteers are trying really hard to give the team a wonderful send off this Saturday. The main road and side streets are already lined with Union Jacks. On the day we are expecting two bands, a choir, a piper, a scooter club & biker club salute & send off. The Mayor of Erewash has also arranged to come and meet the team to show her support. Also the Draycott village fund has arranged for 500 small flags to be handed out on the day, so lots of cheering and flag waving and a great send off.

Draycott are already doing a great job in supporting this event, however it would be fantastic if we could get support for the team throughout the whole day as they pass through various villages, towns and Nottingham City Centre on the way to Gamston. It would be wonderful if we could get people standing at the side of the roads to show their support. Please can you help with any reporting, publicity and promotions.

A couple of my friends and I are walking with them that day to show our support and appreciation of their wonderful efforts. More information about the charity and in particular the 1000 mile Walk of Britain can be found at the following link :-
