Witnesses sought after couple were assaulted in Ilkeston Police are appealing for witnesses after a couple were assaulted in Ilkeston.
At around 4pm on Friday, October 23, an 18-year-old man was cycling along Granby Street when he saw his 17-year-old girlfriend at the bus stop.
He alleges that a group of two men and a woman, whom he knows, were shouting at his girlfriend and he went over to intervene.
An argument broke out and the victim said he was punched several times by one of the men and the woman. He told police his girlfriend came to his aid and the couple left the scene.
The victim has a fractured eye socket and bruising and cuts to his face and body. His girlfriend suffered bruising to her arm.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm while a 20-year-old woman has been arrested for two counts of assault by beating.
Both have been released on bail while the inquiry continues.

Detectives are trying to trace a Good Samaritan who intervened in a robbery in Long Eaton.
Sometime between 9.30pm and 10pm on Tuesday, October 20th, an 18-year-old man was walking along Wilsthorpe Road when he realised two pedestrians and someone on a bicycle were behind him. The cyclist rode off.
As he approached the footpath which leads to Edale Close, one of the pedestrians grabbed him and he turned around. He was punched in the face and fell to the floor. The robbers took his mobile and cash from his wallet. He heard someone telling the robbers to leave him alone and the two people ran off. Police are trying to trace the passer-by who intervened in case they have information which could help with the inquiry.
The man who punched him is black with dreadlock hair. He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a black fleece. He is around 6ft 2ins tall and in his 20s. The victim is unsure as to the gender of the second robber but they are white and wore black bottoms with a red stripe down the leg.
