Alfreton Town v Long Eaton United
Derbyshire Senior Cup Quarter Finals Preview
by Jon Faulkner

Long Eaton United manager Shaun Rickford says the side are ready to face their Vanarama National League Northern opponents tonight in the Derbyshire Senior Cup Quarter Finals
“We take each cup game as a final, myself and the players are ready to test ourselves again against higher opposition.” Rickford said.

Unfortunately United's game on Saturday was called off by the referee 20 minutes before kick off as he was worried about a section of pitch on one side of the pitch. Both teams were happy with the conditions and despite it being called off they agreed to a friendly.
Elliot King scored 5 goals with United running out comfortable winners. Although the result will not count for anything it will have been a good work out and a great confidence builder. It was the third consecutive postponement the Blues have faced “It's part of football, we are lucky at long Eaton to have some of the best facilities around” it doesn’t affect the preparations drastically “We have been able to train when the weather has been bad and games called off”. We all thought the game should have been played on Saturday but these things are beyond our control.
The Blues last 2 matches have ended in two defeats 4-2 against Brocton then 4-1 against Bardon Hill. In both games the Blues found themselves goals down early on and Rickford is determined to put that right “There was poor defending from the start in both games, we didn't get out the blocks, we've been in doing extra sessions and working on things in training to help us start matches better”

Tonight's game at Alreton's Impact Arena should be hopefully in no doubt with the Reds having frost covers on since Saturday. The sides are battling for a place in the final 4, Heanor Town were the first to book their place beating Stapenhill 2-1.

Tonight also see's Glossop North End take on Belper Town.
Gresley are still awaiting the winners of Buxton v Pinxton which should be played on Thursday before they can get their Quarter Final game underway.
