EIGHT HOUR ROOFTOP STAND OFF IN PETERSHAM

Two Long Eaton men have appeared Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court following an incident in Petersham on February 11th. The court heard that Aaron Brennan and Matthew Elliott had taken cases of beer from the local Co-op store before climbing on to the roof of Petersham Hall, For eight hours, they shouted abuse at members of the public and threw beer bottles from the roof. Elliott managed to flee the scene but was later arrested at his home. Brennan was arrested at 1.25am the following morning after coming down from the roof. They pleaded guilty to public order offences and theft. Brennan, 23, of no fixed address was jailed for 50 weeks. Elliott, 27, was handed a 24-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
