The Erewash Valley Cycling Club has launched a Spring recruitment drive to boost membership of its twice weekly social rides.
Says organising secretary Malcolm Griffin: “We need more riders for our Wednesday section aimed mainly at retired people who would like to get out and about in the friendly company of like-minded pension-aged men and women. These rides cover between 20 and 30 miles mostly along cycle tracks, canal towpaths and quiet country lanes whenever possible. Rides are at a leisurely pace so nobody gets left behind.”
The club’s regular and popular Sunday ventures, suitable for riders of all ages and abilities, are split into 50 mile fast runs for experienced members, and slower, shorter distances for those wanting a more relaxed ride. The latter usually covers up to 30 miles in total, with the option of going further or returning via a shorter route.
“All rides include a refreshment stop along the way,” says Malcolm. “and are led by an experienced leader with a first aider usually in attendance”.
For further details contact Malcolm, either by emailing, telephone (0115) 939 7060 (leave message) or by post to 6 Westerlands, Stapleford, Notts, NG9 7JG.
