Officers from Long Eaton South Safer Neighbourhood Team who are investigating the theft of thousands of pounds worth of fishing equipment are appealing for witnesses. Between 8am on Sunday, May 8th and 7am Thursday, May 12th a garage at an address on Kennedy Avenue, Sawley was broken into. Offenders climbed on to the roof and peeled back metal sheets in order to gain access. Fishing equipment including reels, rods, bags, bite alarms and clothing was stolen. PCSO Matt Boyer from the team said:
“A lot of equipment has been stolen that the owner has built up over the last two years following a similar incident. This offence happened when the owner was on holiday. Whoever committed the offence has clearly been on the garage roof and we believe must have loaded the equipment in to a vehicle to be removed. We would ask if anyone has seen anything suspicious at the location between these dates or if anyone has been offered second hand fishing equipment for sale in the area that they contact us.”
