HS2 - EREWASH GREEN PARTY

Firstly, on behalf of everyone involved with Erewash Green Party, may I offer a huge ‘thank you’ to all those who were able to attend our meeting on April 28th at Moorlands and make it such a great success. It was brilliant to see so many people there who care about our area and want to protect from the damage HS2 could inflict.

As discussed at the meeting, it was agreed that a community action group should be created to oppose HS2 and raise local concerns with the relevant bodies. Therefore, Erewash Green party has arranged another meeting to be held on Thursday May 12th 2016 at 7:00pm at the Zingari Club, College Street, Long Eaton NG10 4NP. The aim of this meeting is to form the bones of our community action group and perhaps look at potential campaign action.

Whether you are able to attend our next meeting or not, it would be great if you could also start to think about activity the group could support or get involved with to highlight our cause and any skills you may have;

* Can you use design packages on a computer?

* Are you involved in other local groups that can spread the word? Church groups, sewing circles, Old Boys’ club?

* Do you know anyone in the print trade?

* Do you have any skills or specialist knowledge; geographer, local historian, railway enthusiast, engineer?

* Are you good at writing letters or articles?

* Do you just have some spare time and want to get involved?

Even if you feel you don’t have anything to offer, just showing your support is enough. The more people we have behind us, the more our representatives will have to pay us attention!

Also at the meeting we hope to look at narrowing what the aims of our group are or perhaps simply a ‘mission statement’ or objective of the group.

At our first meeting it would be great to select our secretary and treasurer so if you would like to be considered for these roles, please email back to put your name forward or nominate someone else. We’ll take a vote on the night. If you are thinking about putting yourself forward for one of these roles, please think about the time that may be involved.

Although I think it best to suggest these roles will be temporary for the next 3-6 months, just until the group establishes, please only put yourself forward if you are able to commit.
