Police have quashed rumours of an attempted abduction of a child in Sandiacre today. Despite allegations circulating on Facebook, officers have received no direct calls from anyone reporting an alleged attempted abduction of a two-year-old child today (Monday July 11th). Parents and local school teachers who have read the posts have contacted police for clarification.
In response to these concerns local officers are checking CCTV to see if there is any truth to the allegations. They are also trying to get more information about the original Facebook post.
General police advice to parents is that they should always keep small children close to them and warn older children about what to do if they are approached by strangers.
